Unionlearn are pleased that a record number of apprenticeships are being offered to students finishing their exams this year.

Fred Grindrod, Apprenticeships Policy and Campaigns Officer for unionlearn said:

“It is good news that more than 15,000 apprenticeships will be available to young people this year. This increase is recognition of the importance of the apprenticeship route into employment.

It is important that all apprenticeships are properly valued, with the apprentice receiving good quality training and being paid at least the national minimum wage. We will continue to work with unions to call on all employers to do so.

It is also worth noting that despite these record numbers, each apprenticeship place will be chased by around seven applicants. We hope this number will encourage the government to continue to increase investment in good quality apprenticeships.
