Nearly 50 percent of businesses have been helped by having a mentor, a new poll to mark to mark National Mentoring Day has found. The research, conducted by leading Westminster based law firm Bircham Dyson Bell, found that nearly a third of respondents (33 percent) said that they had used a mentor when they were starting out as a business. On top of this almost a quarter (21 percent) had used a mentor to assist with marketing and just under 20 percent to facilitate introductions.

The survey was put together to underline the value of mentoring for entrepreneurs. National Mentoring Day aims to celebrate the work that mentors from all over the UK are doing to help businesses grow.

“There was a real need for more national awareness of the value of mentors and that is why I founded National Mentoring Day,” commented Chelsey Baker, founder of National Mentoring Day.

“It is exciting that so many businesses are already realising the benefits of mentors, but it is essential that we spread the word and more entrepreneurs start to reap the benefits,” Baker added.
