Satya Nadella, the CEO of Microsoft, has said that the concept of work being a place where you physically clock in and clock out is fading.

Speaking at Microsoft’s Future Decoded in London, he said: “Work is no longer is a place you go to. Work is about making things happen where you are. [It is also] having the experience you need to get things done, available on every device wherever.”

“You need to be able to bring people together in networks that are no longer confined to organisational hierarchy.”

He also spoke about the developing relationship between us and technology: “Data and machine learning and intelligence are being used to transform … applications [that] we use on a daily basis, and that have a profound impact on us as human beings.”

Apple CEO Tim Cook has also made similar claims, saying that the era of the PC is over.
