In this week’s episode, we are joined by Sarah Evans, Partner and Employment Lawyer at Constantine Law Ltd, where we discuss how HR can safeguard employees in cases of sexual harassment and domestic abuse as per their duty of care.

Article 1 –  CIPD research, which took place in 2020, found four per cent of employees said they had been sexually harassed at work over the past three years. Women were also three times more likely to report experiencing sexual harassment than men in the workplace.  

Article 2 – According to a survey, conducted by the legal charity Rights of Women in late 2020, 42 per cent of respondents had recently experienced harassment from co-workers online and that more than 70% think their employers are not doing enough to protect them.  

Article 3 –  During and after the first COVID lockdown roughly one-fifth of all offences committed involved domestic abuse.

Monica Sharma studied English Literature at Western University and then University of Warwick.  While in Warwick she took on the role of Deputy Editor at Warwick Uncanny: Journal of Literature, Theory and Modernity.

Between 2020 and 2020 Monica was the editor of HRreview. She is currently working as a Marketing and Business Development Assistant (Dispute Resolution) for the international law firm, Witherworldwide.

Sarah brings over 15 years of experience as an employment lawyer, having initially qualified into commercial litigation and insolvency with a commercial firm in Cheshire before moving on to larger and national firms based in Manchester, with clients across the UK.

Sarah credits her early training in litigation and commercial law for her commercial acumen and pragmatic approach to issues and challenges clients face. With extensive advocacy experience in the Tribunals and Courts, Sarah has developed a strong reputation as both a litigator and tactician, and is the trusted recipient of referrals and recommendations from fellow solicitors, barristers, HR professionals and clients.
